Some New Kbeauty Releases that caught my eye
As I mentioned in my last Lipstick League post on my crazy spending in 2016, I’m trying to control my impulse to buy all the things. That said, I still see new stuff pop up that looks fun, so I’m going to just tell you what I think looks fun rather than buying it. I have no idea if these products are good or not since they’ve just been released, so proceed with caution. If you’d like a more comprehensive look at what’s new for kbeauty check out ChristinaHello’s new release roundup.
LG, which makes the Su:m37 and History of Whoo luxury skincare lines (and, yes, phones lol), quietly debuted a new skincare brand called La Fiori, which has a flowers and honey concept. Also some pretty sexy packaging (although people are wondering if it will be as luxe in real life).
So far the launch has been extremely limited and focused mainly on department stores in Korea, so hopefully it will become more widely available in the future. I’m curious, but wondering if this is a case of normal formulas in fancy-looking packages. Time will tell…
CNP is a skincare line that’s popular in Korea, but somehow hasn’t made serious waves outside. This milk peel caught my eye while browsing Vuty Design’s new products page. I’m cautious about this because I have no idea about the pH of the product and percentage of acid in the formula, and these kits tend to cost a lot more than just buying a bottle of even fancy acids like Biologique Recherche’s Lotion P50 and using it on cotton pads. That said, it looks fun and could end up being good, especially if you’re more into weekly peels than daily acids.
This silver peel-off pack looks a lot like Glamglow’s Gravitymud firming treatment mask except the A’pieu product costs about $60 less and you get more product. I’m not a fan of these peel-off masks because I find that they rip little hairs out of my skin and don’t do much, but this is a good option if you must have a fancy mask selfie for the Instagram, but don’t have a Glamglow budget.
By the way, I found a kbeauty Glamglow mud dupe back in the day.
This product appears to be a dupe for the Origins Maskimizer Skin-Optimizing Mask Primer…which has pretty terrible reviews and appears to be pointless (why apply a spray version of sheet mask essence before masking? because capitalism). So far I can’t find this booster in any of the usual kbeauty shops, but it should end up being less than half the price of the Origins original when it does appear, if you think your skin would benefit from a pre-mask boost.
These tints just look dead cute. I have no idea if they’re good, but CUTE. Also CHEAP.
I suspect that this mask is going to be like a few I have where it looks pretty interesting, but the essence is crazy heavy. That said, the packaging is pretty sick, the sheet looks interesting (it also comes in gold), and it’s cock-themed for the new year.
The Lipstick League – week of 1.2.16
Question of the Week: What tool do you most often use to apply your foundation? Brush, sponge, fingers or…?
I’ve started using a Beauty Blender to apply my foundation and everything was great until I cleaned my blenders and grabbed the big one in the dark. Why was that a problem? It was drying on my kitchen counter and I thought it was a gross, desiccated lemon also sitting on the counter and threw it out. So I’m blender-less at the moment. I might need to resort to buying another or using my fingers because I find that foundation brushes leave lines or kick up winter flakes. But $20 for a tool that’s pretty dupeable? urgh, I dunno, team. I need to figure something out because my current strategy of indecision is going to lead to some iffy foundation.
