True story: despite writing this blog — mostly about skincare — for two years, I’ve never had a facial. For the longest time I was unsure if they really did anything besides making one feel fancy and pampered.
I got interested when I heard about Silver Mirror facial bar, which sells itself as a no-BS way to quickly and effectively set skin straight. Yes, please.
Since I’m totally new to facials I don’t have the ability to write a review (good reviews require experience and knowledge of the field, as we discussed on a recent episode of The Snailcast), but I want to show you what my facial today was like, since it turns out that so many skincare fans (like me) haven’t had the experience yet and don’t know what to expect. As you can see, I had a blast — mostly thanks to my amazing esthetician De Anna, who cares a lot about skin and the science of skincare.
Do be warned: this video/story includes the popping of a massive zit (!!!), accidental up-nose shots, and a lot of hideous angles.
By the end of my facial, I was so relaxed that I could barely stumble around (my sleep deprivation escalated while writing a story for Racked about the Max Clinic Cirmage Lifting Stick). Now that a few hours have passed, my skin has calmed down, I’m glowing, and my massive zit is basically flat. Unreal.
I had a blast doing this and I really want to make facials (especially extractions — done by someone I trust like De Anna) part of my regular skincare routine. If you have any questions about what you see in the story let me know in the comments; I’m obviously totally new to facials, but I can speak to my own experience at Silver Mirror.
This experience was funded by the fanserviced-b warchest, which accumulates some $$$ when people put up with my blog’s ads and affiliate links (thank you!). If you want me to try something related to skincare and share the experience let me know!
