Here’s a quick, often-requested review of a rather middling product: ReEn Yungo Hair Cleansing Treatment. I thought that this would be a simple one to do, but of course in kbeauty it’s necessary to have 125 ingredients in a shampoo-conditioner. ahahah #crying
ReEn Yungo Hair Cleansing Treatment: Hanbang Pert Plus
What it is: shampoo and conditioner all-in-one; don’t go looking for the matching conditioner because…it’s right in the tube.
Consistency/Foam Texture: This shampoo + treatment has a thick, sap-like consistency straight out of the tube and foams so much that I always fear that it’s going to leave my hair crispy. It doesn’t.
How to use it: get your hair wet, apply some of this stuff, rub it in until it foams, rinse out. Getting the sappy stuff distributed through one’s hair can be tricky due to the thick consistency.
Scent: this smells like a very strong old man cologne. Strong. DId I meNTON STRONG???
While I freak out and gag over the scent, my husband really loved the strong, old school perfumey scent. He’s a bit nostalgic for old Soviet perfumes and declares anything remotely sweet that I try to wear “cheap,” so his taste is probably in line with that of the 1950s.
pH Level: 6.0-6.5 both straight out of the tube and when mixed with my 7.0 water. Why test pH of hair products? Because your scalp and strands are naturally weakly acidic, and low pH products contribute to scalp health and smoothing the hair shaft. This product is fine, but not ideal in terms of pH.

(transcribed by me from Hwahae) (CosDNA analysis)
There are something like 125 ingredients in this shampoo, but unless you’re allergic or sensitive to one of them, only the first few likely appear in any significant concentration. Of those, Sodium Laureth Sulfate rates 3 out of 5 as a potential acne trigger and 2 out of 5 as a poential irritant according to CosDNA. Dimethicone rates 1 out of 5 as a potential acne irritant. Laureth-23, Laureth-4, Triethanol amine, CI 17200, and Butylene Glycol pose potential issues for acne-prone or sensitive skin; see the full CosDNA breakdown to learn more.
Why go so deeply into ingredients for a haircare product? As someone with super acne-prone skin and sensitivities to certain cleansing agents, I feel like switching to good haircare can play a role in better controlling one’s skin. This list isn’t terrible, but I’ve used other shampoos that smell better and have less that might set my skin off.
Is it Good?
Does it actually deliver the shampoo + conditioner goods? I never expected this to work well on my very fakeass blonde hair, but it’s getting reviewed because it’s actually fine (and because SO MANY people have asked about this product, no joke). I try to go 48 hours between washings. On the first day, my hair ends up feeling clean with no added residue–silky and weightless, giving me plenty of volume. I always feel my hair after using it and struggle to remember what I used because I never think it can work so well. On the second day, my hair feels more or less clean, but my scalp is a bit itchy and unhappy. Other shampoos can deliver a full 48 hours of happy strands and scalp, but this is better for my hair as a 24-hour shampoo.
Although this is both a shampoo and treatment (treatment = conditioner), I like to finish my ends with some conditioner just because they’ve been with me through a lot of colorings and certainly look like it now. I’ve used this straight without conditioner and it’s ok that way, too.
My husband, who is an ultra low-maintenance Pert Plus user, tried this and reported back that it’s good, but it left his hair with a bit more residue on his hair that he likes. Keep in mind that he has mountains of hair and I’ve caught him using bar soap to wash it.
Value and accessibility: this is one of the rare kbeauty haircare products that’s easy to buy and has been for awhile. I got it for about $6.50 on Global Interpark from the free shipping page, and I feel like that was a good deal. I don’t think I’d repurchase it due to the smell and range of really amazing (but more expensive) kbeauty hair products, but I like what it does for my hair and I’m always surprised that such a bad-smelling (to me) and foamy shampoo can make my hair feel so silky and weightless for a day.
