Nature Republic was the second store I visited on my Tour de Flushing Kbeauty this weekend and I was yet again impressed by the size of the shop, cleanliness, and organization of everything. It’s a showroom for the brand, it seems, with products stacked with Soviet supermarket precision that even my husband admired (he’s a historian of consumerism). I’ve visited before and I saw there–for the first time ever–the promotion of snail as a skincare and makeup ingredient. “Snail?” I thought. “Do they…grind it up and put it into the cream? Disgusting.” Of course now I understand that snails live and produce mucin, the slimy stuff that helps them heal quickly after getting cuts from sliding around. Yup, I’ve come a long way from that first visit. ahahaha
The store is very similar to when I first saw it with one major change: EXO, the kpop boyband, is everywhere. And not just the ten remaining members, but all twelve, posing at some earlier date as if everything is fine (note for non-kpop fans: members Kris and Luhan of the Chinese-Korean EXO-M division of the band filed injunctions to quit the band in 2014, Luhan just days before my visit). What’s an EXO you ask?
That’s EXO, in their earlier days with 12 members. Aaaand I’m crying again.
As with my other shop visit posts I’m going to dump a billion photos of the store into the post, and follow that up with my purchases and the swag I received. Spoiler: I got EXO stuff OMFG.
Their EXO Stuff
My Mini Haul
I happen to have a fair bit of Nature Republic stuff, so I didn’t go nuts in the store, but I did need to buy the nose pack advertised by EXO. In part due to pores, in part due to Kyungsoo from the band being the face of the commercial and beING SO FREAKING ADORABLE!
So yeah I had to buy it. I mean the promotional materials were all over and pores, you know. Pores. Nature Republic Nose Pack can be found for 6,160 won + shipping at TesterKorea.
I also bought a tea tree mask. Because tea tree? I can never have enough. Nature Republic Given by Nature Tea Tree Aqua Gel Mask can be found for 2,000 won + shipping at TesterKorea.
When I photograph a store I always ask before whipping out my camera and explain that I run a kbeauty blog and a kpop blog, offering to give the url. The manager was cool with me taking photos, thankfully, and he seemed to be checking out my blog while I shopped, amused no doubt by the fact that a grown woman with a husband trailing after her with a shopping basket screams over boybands. What can I say? My life is just that awesome.
So manager-ssi kindly gave me a bunch of stuff despite my rather modest purchase. I received a nice snail and first essence sample set.
An EXO hydrogel snail mask.
And an Oh Sehun fan.
Sehun happens to be the youngest member of the band and he’s basically grown-up girl (noona) bait. And he knows it.
When the fan was passed to me and I saw who was on it I giggled uncontrollably because of course I’d get noona-bait Sehun. fml I am old and he’s young and really attractive (that’s the title of my inevitable autobiography of life as a fangirl). Let’s take a moment to reflect on the wonder of SeBooty.
